Assessments 80%, Daily work 20%
Test retakes: Tests may be retaken under the following guidelines.
*Homework is due the day following it is assigned, unless otherwise specified.
Absent work is the students responsibility to get upon return. See the absent work folder for work you have missed. There is a folder in the classroom that students may get work that they missed if they have been absent. Per district absent work policy, there is one day per day absent, to make up absent work.
All late/missing/no name papers will be handed in to a basket in the back of the room. Even if I am not available, work should be turned in to the baskets as soon as they are complete.
Late work-Per team policy, any assignments, labs and projects included, will be marked down 50% if it is late. This means that the highest possible score they will be able to receive on late work is a 50%. After more than one day, 10% of the original score will be given.
Missing work-Any assignments that are missing can be gotten from the “extra work” folder located in the classroom, or on the calender on weebly. It is the students responsibility to print off missing work. Infinite Campus will tell which assignments are missing. It should be checked on about a weekly basis. Assignments are all also located in the student share drive, in the Kirkland/Workman folder. Students may access the school computers before school, at lunch, or after school to print anything that they may need to get extra copies of if there are none in the binder in the classroom.
Chromebooks: are required for class daily. If misuse is found, a detention will be assigned, or other necessary consequences per the handbook may be assigned.
Infinite Campus-Infinite Campus is updated approximately once a week. Included in that is current work, as well as work that is outstanding, either because it is late, or due to absences. Late work will only be checked once a week (again, approximately), and will get put into Infinte Campus once it is graded. I.C. is a great place to stay up to date on missing work, and current grades. I also use I.C to send messages home regarding upcoming tests, quizzes or projects. If your e-mail address is not already in Infinite Campus, it would be a great idea to put it in, as this is a wonderful communication tool. The directions to input your e-mail address are as follows…
Parent Email Addresses
There are tools in Infinite Campus , our student information system, that allow teachers and administrators to communicate with parents via email. In order to utilize these tools, we need you to enter your email address in the Parent Portal. To enter your email address, select "Change Contact Info" on the left side of the page after you have logged in to the Parent Portal. Enter your email address in the box on the top of the screen and select Save. After selecting save, you will have the option of selecting the types of messages that you wish to receive. We recommend that you select all 5 options for High Priority, Attendance, Behavior, General and Teacher messages, and then select Save again.
No name papers- Any assignments turned in with out a name will automatically go on the “no name board” at the front of the class, and will be marked down 50%. A reminder is given each day for students to put both their first and last name on the papers.
Late work coupon-Each Team 83 core class will be giving a late work coupon. One late work coupon will be given per class, per trimester to be used to keep your grade from being marked down due to lateness. The assignment must still be completed, in full, for the possibility of full credit. The assignment will be scored as it if it were turned in on time. If the coupons are lost, they will not be replaced. They should be put in a safe place with their name printed on it.
Tardies-Per school policy, 4 tardies= 1 after school detention. A tardy may be received for having to go back to the locker to get supplies (i.e. homework, book), or simply by coming to class after the bell.
Extra Credit-Recycle Fridays-We will be running Recycle Friday’s again, each Friday this year. This gives students an opportunity to get a few bonus points (this will be the only extra credit that is offered), and a chance to do something good for the environment. Materials that may be brought in are: (basically paper or plastic based items)...1 milk/juice gallon jug, 2 small water/powerade/juice bottles, 3 plastic grocery bags, 1 magazine, 1 whole newspaper, 1 phonebook or a 2 liter bottles, 2 batteries, 1 cereal box etc.
Parent contact- If there are questions that arise, please feel free to e-mail me at…([email protected] ), or call at 254-6654. E-mails are preferable, but you are welcome to call if you’d like, and I’ll get back to you at my earliest convenience.
